Do you need a Derby Magician for an event ?

By Lillian Williamson

OK, so you are about to start planning an event for the near future and its imperative that it goes well, your reputation is at risk and you want to ensure you have a successful event that everyone will remember. The fundamental element to get right for any event, is selecting the right entertainer for the evening. As a magician in derby, I can offer you some invaluable advice. The first thing is to get online and search for local entertainment in your area.

What do you type in though? The internet is a big place. I would recommend keeping your searches local, for example a magician in derby. This will target all the suitable performers in that specific area, which will keep the overall costs down due to these entertainers being on your door step. Once you have found a suitable entertainer, have a look to see if there are any examples of their work. Some performers will have show reels or videos showing prospective clients examples of what you can expect to see if you book them. It's always a good idea to be able to see these examples to give an accurate representation of their work.

Once you have watched a few of these show reels, now is the time to choose a suitable performer. Make contact with your Derby magician and find out how much they charge for an event. Most magicians in derby will offer a range of performances to suit all events. You would be expected to pay in the region of 3-500 for a quality professional magician for a mix and mingle style booking. If you require something like an after dinner show or cabaret magic you should expect to pay significantly more.

Once you have decided upon the type of performance you require your Derby magician for, you may have to sign a booking form and provide a deposit. Many magicians in derby will be slightly different in the way they confirm the booking but make sure you check the small print before putting pen to paper. Once signed and your deposit is paid, the magician may make contact a week or so before the date to check any last minute details. This is normal and should be encouraged.

When the day of the event arrives, you may want to call the Derby magician again. Don't worry if not though; they should arrive in plenty of time, prepped and ready to perform. This is what makes them a professional. Upon his arrival introduce yourself and inform them if everything is running on time. You may wish to have the magician start at a specific table or group depending on the event itself. From that point leave him to work his magic. Your guests will love it and remember, after all your hard work planning the event, make time to witness the performance yourself.
