A Brief Guide To Dog Oil Painting

By Heinz Kaufmann

The German Shepherd as the name indicates came from Germany. From the time it was first developed, it has been praised being good natured, witty and of excellent temperament. Really, because of its popularity, a lot of artists have been devoted to creating paintings, posters and t-shirts and the like to illustrate the character of the said breed.

"Obey the German Shepherds", a poster depicting the said canine as the one in control of a household. The poster has a striped yellow and red background making it catchy and is considered as an appraisal to the great role of German Shepherds as guard and companion dogs.

A painting by Carol Lynn Nesbitt depicted a German Shepherd lying in a bunch of flowers with a sensitive facial expression. The framed painting can be found and is sold online. Another 14 by 14 acrylic painting by Michelle Noe illustrates a German Shepherd with a red halo on top of his head. This is available on mere canvas as well as on frame.

For fashionistas, the artwork by a photographer Miki Klocke can be a perfect piece. This black and white painting illustrates a confident-looking German Shepherd doing his own runway show. This is available unframed.

Tracy Allyn Greene, wanting to acknowledge the trustworthiness and protective character of German Shepherds, created a painting entitled "Faithful Dreams" showing these dogs quietly taking a nap on cushion.

"Paws Up" by Melissa McDaniel is a work featuring a German Shepherd extending both of its paws in the air. This artwork goes on frame upon request.

Meanwhile, German Shepherd puppies are showcased in the works of Victoria Smith. She called it "Troy", taken from the name of a canine she played with in a certain dog show. Material used was colored pencil and is 10x12 inches in size. Buyers can also ask for it to be framed.

A multicoloured pop painting by Carol Lynn Nesbitt illustrates the often regarded wild dog as a playful creature. Her artwork is named "German Shepherd and the Butterfly" and is on a lively, vibrant print.

A poster painting shows a group of these dogs sleeping with the US flag behind them. This caters to folk art enthusiasts as well as patriotic ones. This shows that in spite of having German origins, the German Shepherds has been loved by Americans. In fact, they are sometimes called American Shepherds. Another is by Alison Leete showing a dog of this breed suddenly stopping upon hearing a sound as he was taking a walk in the middle of tall grasses.
