Roles Of A Football Agent

By Jean Paul

A football agent is essential when it comes to matters of representation of players. Normally, this person is registered with a football body and has the necessary qualifications to being one. He or she assists players in the best way possible as mandated to do so. Not all representatives are courteous. Some may have malicious interests especially when these players are young.

Some act maliciously for their own gains in times like negotiating for a new contract. They may frustrate these negotiations with the relevant club with the aim of wanting to receive large bonus from such contracts. In such scenarios, contract negotiations stall or even take longer time for an agreement to be reached. This is not a brilliant idea at all.

Besides, new clubs may be interested in the client. Such clubs will not be able to talk to such players directly. This individual is the one who initiates the transfer talks especially between the contracted club, and the one that has shown interest to buy. In this case, it is up to this person to come up with a better deal that benefits both parties.

This individual acts as a manager to this player. In this role, the person is known to be competent in soccer matters and therefore, able to manage the career of the players represented. In this case, he does all in his ability to ensure that the career of the player is on the right track at all times.

These players receives better welfare advice from the representative. Young players especially, are shown better ways of spending their money, investment opportunities, and also when it comes to buying houses and cars. The players are, therefore, given best forms of welfare advice when it comes to these areas.

For financial planning, this is the individual who does that for the player. He or she comes up with strategies that will enable the player spend his earned income wisely. He plans for them on efficient ways of putting the money earned to decent income generating operations and activities.

A football agent has the responsibility of securing sponsorships and marketing deals for the players. In cases of young age of players, they may do so and sell these rights to the company with their own interest without the knowledge of such players. They go on doing such sensitive matters behind their backs, and this may taint their image especially in matters of their personal life and the image of their current club.
