FAQs About Casting Calls For Teenagers

By Dianne Crane

The following tips on casting calls for teenagers will hopefully help any teen trying to get a job. Often teens do not have as much experience as some who are older would have. Having some helpful information before they head into an audition is always useful.

How can I avoid scams is something that is heard often from both teens and parents alike. The sad fact is that not every person is a good and kind person. This means that you must be vigilant when it comes to protecting yourself from anyone who might take advantage of you.

A good rule to have is if something makes you feel uneasy, stop and think about why. Once you take some time to think, you will usually figure out what it is that is making you feel leery. Often your instincts are correct. If it feels wrong, leave and do not look back.

Another question that is asked frequently is how to prepare. You can do this by researching everything you can about the project and the director. Know the director's style. Go over what you will be reading. Practice several times, keep at it until you feel flawless.

Teens also wonder what a good piece of advice they can have that will see them through. One great piece of advice is to remain professional. It does not matter that you are a teen, you are expected to behave like a professional adult. You are not there to make friends or hang out, you are there for work.

What items should you take with you is another common query. You should bring along professionally taken head shots. You should also have a well written resume. Bring along two of each to hand out. Go over the resume to check for errors before supplying it to anyone.

Be flexible and deal with whatever is thrown at you. At times you may be asked to change up the way you read something, or to even try reading for a different character, do it. Not only should you do it, but it should be done without complaint. Never ask for or expect a break. Keep working until you are told you are done.

Casting calls for Teenagers are really not much different from those for adults. You are expected to behave in the same way. You are expected to be ready and able to do what is asked of you. There is not much slack for teens. They are treated the same as adults. It is wise to keep this in mind as you head out.
