Things You Should Know About Minimalist Wrist Watch

By Sally Delacruz

In the modern world where everything happens at neck breaking speeds, time is the most important thing of all. Multitasking was conceived by the new generation in an effort to beat time. Human beings today live in a world where there is so much to do yet there are lesser hours to get it done.

It is a familiar sight to see people rush by and take long strides, all the while looking at the time strapped on to their wrists. Clocks, after all, seem to command everyone. People look at them mounted on walls. People have them at their bedside as alarms. People carry them around as a minimalist wrist watch.

Wristwatches have not really caught up on public until the year 1868. Back then people were not really open to the idea of wearing one due to the popularity of pocket watches. Now it is considered a wardrobe by many. There are even some people who just do not feel right if they can not wear one on their wrist.

There are many reasons why most choose to buy and use these instruments to tell the time. Time is gold, and it is money. People are always particular about punctuality and lateness, which is why they wear it where they can see it easily. Before these gadgets came into being, people relied on the natural signs such as the length of shadows cast off by the sun. Before the era of the clock, people did not have synchronized times.

Then they became fashion statements. Small clocks were fastened on to bracelets and became popular with the women. It was such a revolution back then, and the wealthy ladies rushed off to acquire the newest fashion trend that combined the clock and the bracelet. This started the regard for wristwatches as an article of jewelry.

Men did not really enter the bandwagon then because they saw it only fit for the ladies. The pocket watch is still the standard instrument for telling the time among true gentlemen. It was not until the nineteenth century that the males got to wear these on their arms. During the times of the earlier wars pocket versions got in the way for more efficient movement. It was such a hassle then to fish it out of their pocket just to be aware of the time. The earliest models for men came in the form of leather straps that held a pocket watch on the wrist.

Afterward, wristwatch types were already considered as for both sexes. Everyone saw the need to have one, so watch makers started mass productions. To have greater profits some makers produced bejeweled collections that are aimed only at the elite. These watches had the best leather bands and even had shiny stones as decorations.

Now, these types of watches are used as tokens. Before the trend of giving cars, it had been customary to present a man with a quality watch when he comes of age. They also became popular graduation and birthday gifts. Those that have matching designs for both men and women became cute couple items that are given on anniversaries.

Even with the rise of modern gadgets, people simply can not part away with the good old wristwatch. Phones may have clocks, but there will be occasion where whipping them out is inappropriate. Phone models will also come and go, but a good watch stays forever. You can even pass it on to future generations.
