The Attempt To Comprehend The Essence Of Passing On War Stories

By Alyce Larson

The telling of korean war stories have already been part of tradition for as long as people can remember. Ancestors have colorfully recalled the sense of patriotism that has emanated out of every heart upon hearing of the tales of the brave. Those who have been part of the struggle between warring parties have recounted their fair share of recollections.

This brings the focus to the concept of story telling in general. Society has seen the progression of one tale after the other, and they have lived for as long as they are talked about. Throughout generations, the relevance of stories will always be questioned, but never in a negative light.

Reminiscing about past events is sometimes instrumental to present and future growth. Some stories are meant to serve as a lesson, and others are for inspiration. Whatever the purpose, they are to be regarded as forms of communication that are done beautifully to emulate certain feelings.

Stories are formed through various influences. They could be brought about by media or through hearsay. Basically, they stem from somewhere and are passed on to every generation that lives to exist. In a way, it can be seen in a romantic sense because life is all about going through experiences and turning them into recollections.

Then again, if you look at it at its simplest form, the purpose can be pretty objective. It is to relay events as they happened. On the other hand, it can also take a subjective form where the purpose is to make the listeners and readers feel something, any emotion at that.

In retrospect, you hear of old war veterans sharing their experiences while out on the battle field. They share the hardships of being away, of never knowing if they will ever come back to their families, or if they fought a good fight. It is with this reality that sometimes, you deal with war narrations to the extremities.

Narratives about wars can elicit different feelings all at once. When spoken in the context of families, it details the hardship of being separated from loved ones and being forced to cope with the idea of what if and uncertainty. If pertaining to the nation, it revolves around the concept of patriotism and extreme sacrifice.

While stories have sense, endless warring do not. Although for some it is reasonable that they are fighting the good fight to reclaim a territory or avenge for the sorrows of victims, resorting to violence and fatalities is still wrong in all levels. One can only draw inspiration in the fact that there are people who are willing to stand by the country and be on the front end of the shield.

Communication is perhaps the main reason why storytelling does exist in the lives of people. With the ability to reach out to one another with the written and spoken word, these korean war stories are brought back to life in the hopes of reminiscing the glories and triumphs of oneness. It is done with the fervent hope that future generations will continue to value their service for the nation.
