I take a lot of pride in my country, and so I am always really careful about buying products that are made in the United States whenever it is possible and because there have been a lot of problems with toys made out of the country, I make certain to buy American made kid products when I can. Of course, for a long time, I thought that the sole way to learn where items were made was to go through each item and check the bottom of each toy, or the tags of each piece of clothing.
I would try to do this every so often, but it was just a very daunting task to do it all the time so I just walked around with a hazy feeling of guilt all of the time. I didn't know what I could do about this problem, until one day a few weeks ago, when I was discussing the latest incident of toys from Asia having lead in them.
The friend I was speaking with agreed with me that it is a great idea to only buy American made kid products since they have high standards for quality, and they also support the national economy. What she said next was that there was a website that sold products made in the U.S. that were perfect for kids of all ages and were of very high quality.
I was very excited about this information and I told her so, and asked her where I could find the website since my son's birthday was coming up and I wanted to get him something nice. She happily gave me the web address, so I went home and logged onto my computer in order to find out more about these American made toys and see if there were any that might make a good gift for my own child.
As I browsed through the selection, I was very pleased with the variety of items available and started putting things into my virtual shopping cart at a rather steady rate. After about an hour of browsing through the website, I took a look at my virtual shopping cart and was shocked to see that I had several dozen toys in the cart, which was obviously more than I needed. It was hard, but I managed to narrow down the selection to a more sensible amount, and then I placed my order and arranged for them to be delivered to my address. My kid was delighted with the new toys and told me I was the world's greatest mom!
