Exploring The Woodstock NY Tourist Information Website

By Arthur White

When visiting the town of Woodstock, NY, it is important to remember that this is a small town and not the site of the Woodstock music festival. In addition, the town has a lot more to offer than a single event every 25 to 50 years. According to the woodstock ny tourist information website, while the town may be small in stature, it is big on residents and visitors staying active throughout the year.

The ultimate goal of the tourist center is to bridge a gap between locals and visitors by speaking a common language familiar to all. For, when both can attend activities and events, everyone feels at home in this little town. As such, whether going out to explore the town, grab a beer at a local spot, checking out a local poet, singer songwriter or grabbing fresh organic food at a cafe or market, the town often offers something for everyone.

The local culture provides a plethora of local talent, small businesses and an arts colony with different types of art. While the residents are open, friendly and welcoming, visitors attempting to cause trouble or trashing the town will most likely be asked to act right, clean up or leave. For, the ideology of locals is that all people are tourists and that all are on a personal journey and just passing through town whether that be stopping for a short while or a lifetime.

Whether a lifetime or new resident, visitor or working in the area, travelers often provide different types of magic, workshops, music, spoken word and other activities. In addition, people visiting the area often find the peace and quiet which can be found in the woods and nearby streams extremely beneficial. For, many of these individuals have never experienced peace and quiet in such beautiful surroundings.

Whether traveling to the area to attend the upcoming 50th Anniversary of Woodstock or just to explore upstate New York, the area has a lot to offer. For example, a 60s museum with information on the original festival and other aspects of the decade, Lake Superior and a performing arts center offering a number of concerts and other events can be found in Bethel.

The town of Woodstock has three main goals. These goals being for more people to relocate to or visit the town, for more people to host or participate in events and activities and to boost community morale. Most often, the second being accomplished by individuals fulfilling the first and third of such goals.

While happening in the area, the festival is far different from that of the town. In fact, many considered the first festival in 1969 to be somewhat a city unto itself. While this is the case, the original festival was actually located in Bethel, NY, yet another small town with a culture and vibe similar to that of Woodstock which offers a museum focusing on the original festival and the 60s and a performing art centers where concerts and theatre productions take place throughout the year. Whereas, the 50th anniversary festival coming later this Summer will be located in Watkins Glen rather than Bethel.

The town website provides a mobile guide, both having been designed with all end users in mind. As such, there is a voice command option, a translation tool as well as maps, information and calendar related to the town. The designers also structured the site to be compatible with any brand and size of smart phones, desktop computers, laptops or monitors.
