Easy Decorative Eggs For Your Easter Party

By Maryanne Goff

Anyone who is unsure what to do this Easter when it comes to decorating their home for a party should look no further than decorative eggs. This ongoing trend to have decorations may inspire you to create something special that will have your guests astounded.

As the kids are off school at Easter, why not ask them to help with the task at hand? Most children love to do creative things, and they will probably be very excited at the thought of creating decorations and telling their friends. Even their mates might want to get involved. It could even become an annual ritual, where the kids help make the ornaments.

Easter egg decorations come in many forms. You could try hanging them from string from the ceiling. This is done by hanging the decorations in hallways and in doorways. Of course, the egg must be dyed and hollowed first, otherwise if it falls to the floor you'll have a nasty mess to clean up, as well as a broken shell.

To hollow out an egg, all you need to do is prick the bottom of the egg shell and make sure the yolk and whites drain from the inside. Once this has been done do not throw away the liquid. You can cook with it as it's still good to eat. Then you can use the shell to make the decorations. First, be sure to clean them thoroughly after this and to let them dry out naturally. After this they can be dyed with whatever colors you wish.

Whenever you choose to dye an egg always make sure you look at the instructions on the side of the dye packet. Once an egg has been colored you don't have to leave it at that. If hanging them, you'll need to use hot glue to attach ornament hooks onto each egg. After this, tie some colored string or ribbon to half the eggs and use it to make a chain on eggs. The chain can be used on doorways, as well as ceilings and entryways.

If some of the ideas you see knocking around aren't bold enough, then create creatures. They are actually quite easy and are not time-consuming. Making sure the shell is hollow, you should drain the contents of the egg. Once the egg has dried, decide what animals you want to have as decorations and color the shell accordingly. The popular ones are elephants, pigs and bees.

The decoration that some people might find is most popular at their party is the egg wreath. You can always use fake eggs if time is at a premium. Whatever you do, be sure to paint the eggs bright colors. Tissue paper can make impromptu leaves as well. The way to do this is to thread wire along each egg and make a loop.

By their very nature these types of things are only temporary. They'll probably not last until next Easter, and that's most likely why people give them away to guests. Just make sure you have some that are worth giving away. Decorative eggs don't take very long to make but can create an impression with your guests that lasts a very long time.
