Aspects Of The Power Of Soul

By Dorthy Lloyd

There are ten sefirot which come from the ten powers of the soul possessing names similar to sefirot. The soul is manifested and expressed via its powers. There are two major categories of such which are transcendent and immanent powers. The transcendent are also referred to as oneg and ratzon and they correspond to the above mentioned keter while the immanent ones are classified into emotions and intellect. The intellect ones are daat, bina and chochma regarding the power of soul.

Chochma refers to the innovative and usually hard to predict souls power. Its manifestation is in spontaneous inspiration and insights. This is an intellectual illumination or intuitive flash yet to be developed and processed through the understanding supremacy of bina. Bina which is translated to refer to understanding is cognitive faculty which articulates and develops the chochma seminal energy for it to become known in a way that is detailed and conceptual.

Daat is the knowledge aspect of intellect. It is that ability that human beings use to integrate and also harmonize opposing views and stated of human beings. This power has double roles. It in one part binds other powers together and in another part bridges the attributes of intellect and emotions which sometimes disagree.

Love or chesed comes first in the attributes of emotion. It is inspired by benevolence force and love. It gets termed as gedula often times due to its nurturing the other soul traits to maturity and full development. Tiferet blends and brings harmony to chesed and gevura. It is referred to be the truth trait too because of its reliance to recipient merit to some extent. It however inclines towards chesed making it be known as mercy or rachamim.

There is also a fortitude and restrictive soul power which is associated with discreet judgment that could have been left out by the extreme love and kindness. Is blends the emotional power with some aspects of fear. When kindness and love guide one to be generous and unconditional, this power tells you to assess if it is really worth it. It can actually argue against doing it for the fear that they may actually be helping a non worthy person and misuse their resources. One becomes good to those who do them good.

Sometimes the soul will feel the aspects of victory. They will have more initiatives and persistence in order to overcome resistance on their way and to feel that they did a positive action. Victory assumes initiative, Eternity will encourage persistence. Orchestration will make you have a creative plan to deploy all the other qualities intelligently. This quality will be better in confident people and those who follow the laws of God.

Surrendering and acknowledgement complement the powers of victory, eternity and orchestration. As these powers interplay on the intended recipient, the powers of innocence and sincerity ensure that this person acknowledges that his success comes from a divine power which is mighty. This complementary relationship of opposing powers makes a complete individual.

Yesod is the attribute that bring into a combination all qualities preceding it into one creative act uniting the recipient and giver as a unit. It also represents tzadik whom was said to be the world foundation. Malchut is the last attribute which stands for reception of the sovereignty of God yoke upon oneself.
