Neil Diamond Tribute Bands Rock

By Katrina Wheeler

It should not surprise anyone that the idea to form and play Neil Diamond tribute bands is popular. This is because of Neil Diamond himself. Neil Diamond is perhaps one of the most notable musician not just in this generations but for generations prior.

His songs lay in the category of adult contemporary rock. He began his career way back in the sixties and today is still going strong. He has been awarded a position in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The only other musicians to beat him in the billboard list for adult contemporary music are the famous Elton John and Barbara Streisand. His most noted songs are If You Know What I Mean, Song Sung Blues and I've Been This Way Before.

A tribute band plays not necessarily to copy music from an artist but rather to play homage to their artistry. It is a show of appreciation although some may think this type of playing is somewhat of a copycat.

Since his music is done almost exclusively by one person it makes creating this type of band easier. The majority of his sound is considered light and acoustic. There are tracks which have more instruments which can complicate replication and of course his mellow singing can be difficult to pull off.

A tribute band is free to take on interpretations of his music and create really creative covers. The band can emphasize or down play certain aspects of the songs like in pitch of voice or beat length. The band may decide even to delete whole stanzas are combine two different songs.

Whatever direction it takes, the members are expected to know every song by the artist and not just the popular ones. They can expect to be in front of an audience who are hardcore fans and who have tired of the repeated tracks. They may prefer more esoteric numbers. Also they might not appreciate an newly formatted track. It is up to the musician to gauge the atmosphere of the audience.

It is an excellent way to make extra income. It can be an especially fun experience for those who love to play but do not know how to write their own music. There are also musician who supplant their income this way while creating their own sound.

Tribute bands cannot expect to play large stadiums or to charge nearly as much as the original artists. They can however find work in many venues such as restaurants bars and even parties. Tribute bands can also find work playing the back ground to live karaoke. However they should know more the music to more than just one musician or band. A Neil Diamond tribute bands are bound to find many places that would like to hire them since he is widely recognized. This can be problematic since his popularity is sure to have encouraged many tributes to him. Perhaps the best way to go about it is to sound just like Neil Diamond but to also be able to deviate from his original sound.
