Making Art With Rock Carving

By Rachael Gutierrez

You have the love for art and you want to create your masterpiece out of the single rock that you have seen ashore. You want to chisel it and transform it to the subject of your imagination. But you do not know how to start the process except by imagining. In this case, you just happened to be at the right place that will give you tips all the way from rock carving Alberta.

First of all, you have to come up with a design. Something that you can manifest into a stone carving. This will depend on the creativity and the determination that you go to create your very own masterpiece. You can ether discover a stone that suggests the design or model out using the clay so to work out the details.

Then you need to choose which among all the rocks you are going to carve. There are plenty of its kinds and most of them are suitable for the art. However, if you are not so sure about it, then doing a research about the type of rock would do.

Just like the rock, you have to choose the tools too. It will depend on that type of stone that you chose at the beach. You need the hammer, chisel, pitching tool, tracing tool, small grinder, and the sandpaper. In drilling the stone, you should have the driller so to carve the edges or the tips.

And always get yourself the appropriate gears for your own safety. Not unless, you are open for the possibilities of being deaf and being hit with the debris right though your eye. If you do not want that to happen because you love yourself too much in a complete body parts version, wear the appropriate gears for this.

While you are working you have to be focused on your goal. That is, to either create an image of someone or something. Without it, then there is that ambiguous possibility that you will come up with the desired result of yours. You can do this on either the flat surface or three d.

Take consideration of the grain in your rock. This should never break off or everything that you have invested your time and your effort will be gone with the wind. To avoid that from happening, you can design your sculpture through following the entire length of the grain. Sketch out your design on a flat surface for relief.

And always know the right functions of the tools that you are going to use. It is needed so that the quality of the work will be kept in front. Each of them varies on their designation so always keep the functions in your mind. Or you will yet again damage the sculpture you redo twice.

And also, you have to take consideration of polishing that rock carving Alberta. This is necessary since there will be grits that will be left after you have chiseled them all. Most likely, they could cut your skin. So to polish the surface, use the dry sandpaper or the wet silicon carbide for that.
