Many Americans can name at least one very popular Swedish female singer in this world. It is no surprise that the group ABBA turned out to be one of the biggest singing groups all over the world. The group included four artists who were romantically linked together in the early 70's. These four unique individuals were Agnetha Faltskog, Frida Lyngstad, Bjorn Kristian Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.
History will always remember these four people as great artists who were able to inspire the world musically. The blonde bombshell of this group was Agnetha Faltskog and she is one lady who knows how to get everyone's attention. She is a native of Sweden and was raised in a very middle class family with no real connections to wealth. Her father was a store manager and her mother was a housewife.
Agnetha took many piano lessons and performed with her choir at church during every Sunday service. "The Cambers" was her very first musical group when she was only ten years old. Her group would always get a thrill out of performing for local events around her hometown and people really appreciated their talent. Unfortunately this amazing lady decided to leave school when she was only fifteen years old.
She wanted to desperately try her luck at singing and this was the golden opportunity for her to take this chance while people loved the music. She considers Aretha Franklin, Lesley Gore and Connie Francis to be her role models when it comes to great artists. Agnetha mainly wrote songs about romance and the heartbreak which comes along with it.
Faltskog met Bjorn Ulvaeus in the late 60's and they began a torrid love affair that was very beneficial to them both. These two were married in 1971 and their union lasted for a short eight years. During this time they had two beautiful children together. Even though they decided to divorce in 1979 this duo still remained with the group ABBA until the end.
One fortunate redhead within this industry is the lovely Frida Lyngstad who was born in a Norwegian hospital in the mid 1940's. Frida grew up in Sweden and still considers herself to be a native of this land. She also is associated with Germany due to her father's bloodline. Synni Lyngstad was her mother who left this planet at the age of twenty-one when she died from an illness.
Frida's grandmother was her major role model and she encouraged her granddaughter to pursue a career in music. She has often given her grandmother praise during interviews on television. Lyngstad found herself working with an orchestra at the tender age of thirteen. She would sing many Norwegian songs while this wonderful band played. Later in life she would meet her future husband and fellow ABBA member Benny Andersson.
Benny was married to this Swedish female singer for several years before filing for a divorce. The couple was actually together for quite a period of time before marrying. Once ABBA was finished Frida found herself back on stage as a single act. "I Know There's Something Going On" was a big hit song for her in the 80's.
