Benefits Of Getting Bathtub Refinishing

By Carolyn Harris

There advantages as well as disadvantages to everything. Bathtub refinishing is no exception to this rule. It has its benefits as well as demerits as listed below. To start with its benefits, bathtub refurbishment has visual appeal.

Once you refinish your bath tub, it looks as good as new as compared to its older and former glory as we all know all humans are attracted to everything that looks good or new. It makes the bathroom more habitable as well as eases the daily cleaning ritual as it is less tedious to scrub. We are also lucky that refinishing allows people to choose from an array of colors to suit the customer taste as well as preference.

In addition to that, bathtubs which have been refinished are susceptible to getting mold. This is due to the materials used to refinish the bath. They absorb water or in other words are porous.

To top up on that, bath tub refurbishment saves time due to the installation period of the tub. This is because it is using the old systems just giving the old a new look. Also, it does not require the hiring of a professional general contractor or plumber.

To top that up, these tubs chip easily as their material is not very durable as compared to the original acrylic if not marble material. The materials used are used due to their aesthetic appeal not much because of their durability. The chipping is risky to the young families who have children as they tend to eat the chipped off pieces of the refinished tub which may be health hazardous.

It degrades easily because of paper thin material used to refinish it as compared to hardy and durable material of the first enamel of the tub. This is mostly after the first year of using the re-finished tub.

To add to that bathtubs that have been refinished tend to degrade quickly after the first year. This is because the materials that are being used. Since they are hardy, they tend to lower their quality after the first twelve months hence needing replacement. This therefore means that over time one will have to spend more to keep on re-fixing the tub after every year as compared to buying another tub at once.

In conclusion, bathtubs that have been refinished also tend to be more slippery as compared to the normal bath tubs since the finish is a thin layer that is very smooth. Once it gets soapy, it becomes even more slippery and the chances of a person of a using it slipping and falling are very if not extremely high.
