Ideas On What To Do With An Ivory Silk Ribbon

By Michael Campbell

There are many ways to be crafty and creative with the most mundane or simplest of items. Not only can it save a lot of money; it adds an individual and personal touch to any project. A simple piece of ivory silk ribbon can be used for so many things, and definitely should not be thrown away but stored for future use if it doesn't come in handy immediately.

First of all, ivory is a really great color that you can mix and match with so many others. Of course, ivory is often used in the realm of bridal, especially when more and more brides of late are choosing this color over white. A ribbon could be the perfect finishing touch for a bridal look or in the overall decor.

In a wedding setting, you can tie a silk ribbon around where you will be holding your bouquet and finish it in a stunning bow. You could add a brooch or other sparkly decorative elements to give it a wow factor. You, as the bride, could also wear the ribbon in your hair to enhance your hairdo or tie it around your mid-section as a sash. You could add a brooch the same way in either of these suggestions.

Ribbons could be used elsewhere in the bridal party. Flower girls would look very cute with ribbon sashes around their waist and tied in a bow at the back, or even junior bridesmaids. If the flower girl is throwing any petals as she walks down the aisle, then tie around the basket or the handle with the ribbon to finish it off.

In other looks, a ribbon can be made into a choker by tying it round your neck and securing it at the back, or tying a bow in the front. This is a really feminine, cute look. You can always string some different beads onto a piece of ribbon to make a necklace. Change the beads to create different looks.

Use a ribbon for a birthday gift or at Christmas time. Put the finishing touch on a wrapped gift with a fantastic bow - you can find a number of different bows in online tutorials. They can also be used on gift bags as well as wrapped boxes.

Speaking of Christmas, ivory is a great color to work into some holiday decor. A ribbon can be used to tie in a bow or weave in and out of a Christmas wreath to hang on the door. Alternatively, use it instead of regular string to hang ornaments on the tree. Incorporate ribbons into the ornaments themselves by wrapping or tying strategically, or even mixing with other colored ribbons to create patterns.

Hopefully you have learned a number of ways you can use a silk ribbon in an ivory color in your projects and now, you will save it for future use instead of throwing it away. Wrap it in tissue and store it in a box for good preservation until the time comes when you're ready to use it. After all, the ideas are never-ending, as you can see!
