How Artists And Illustrators Are Valuable In The Production Of Animation Films

By Timothy Olson

Man has been fascinated ever since he started producing art. Man has been able to produce quality work with the use of tools such as paint brushes or pencils. The two categories of professionals named above on the topic do similar tasks as their jobs are about drawing. The distinguishing factor is on the material used as an output. This article basically elucidates on how Artists and Illustrators are valuable in the production of Animation Films.

As stated earlier, the main difference between the outputs of the two professionals is the material that portrays their work. Illustrations involve the use of comic books, magazines or visual advertising media. On the other hand, production of art involves the use of canvas material to showcase their work. Alternatively, producing illustration consists of a variety of activities such as demonstration, creation and practice of their original work.

Both art and illustrations are vital when producing animation films. Firstly, an artist is responsible for creation of characters that are the backbone of any animation film. Alternatively, it is their mandate to create various specific features about their character such as height and facial features. Meanwhile, an illustrator has a duty of utilizing the drawn character in relation to the plot of the narrative. This will make it much easier for the audience to understand the subject matter of the animation film.

Artists as well as Illustrators are crucial in the production of animation films. For instance, artists provide a base on which characters are created as well as developing a scene for the animation film. On the other hand, illustrations basically entail the determination of a variety of emotions that add life to the characters. These emotions are mostly felt or seen during the production phase of the animation film. Emotions such as despair, happiness or anger are captured as they give a vivid description of what these characters go through.

In addition to creation of emotions, illustrations also serve the role of creating sounds as well as voices as characters are expected to speak or produce sounds during various parts of the animation film. For example, an illustrator will adopt the use of deeper voices when male characters speak . This is to emphasize their dominance. Meanwhile, female characters adopt a softer voice to emphasize female qualities. Illustrations also adopt the use of sounds to describe emotions being experienced by these characters at various scenes within the film. Characters that are in a happy mood are played a happy tune while a sad tune is played during a sad scene.

Artists are responsible for capturing every aspect relating to a character within the film. Objects being used by the characters should also be captured as they probably play a role along the storyline of the narrative. For instance various objects held or worn should be captured as they narrate unique qualities about the specific character.

It is important that directors are notified during production phase concerning the movement of characters as per the illustrations. If the characters are performing specific acts such as running, then they should be captured so as not to contradict with the original story.

In conclusion, it is fundamentally clear that artists as well as illustrators play a crucial role when producing animated films. They serve as the foundation on which a narrative is told. Without their input, then the animation is as good as dead.
