Reasons As To Why Some Abstract Art Products End Up Being Extremely Expensive

By Crystal Duke

Most abstract art products are priced way over expectations, but this is motivated by a number of things. Many people would expect the products of art genre in question here to be quite cheap, as they are largely 'the products of the artists' own minds.' The shock induced by expensiveness of all abstract art genre products is enormous, because we tend to believe the opposite, we tend to believe that mainstream art is more valuable while in fact abstractions are priced higher. While people are still shocked by these high prices, they still look for reasons why abstract art should be cheaper.

There are a lot of artists who create abstract art products and if you ask any of them about prices and artistic value, they all agree that abstract art is a lot more valuable or equally valuable, compared to different art genres. The true value of abstract art can be understood by observing how no real abstract artist will be willing to lower product prices. But in a bid to answer the folks who nonetheless want to understand why some abstract products end up being extremely expensive, we can identify at least three issues.

One of the three reasons to explain how come abstract art products are really costly products is the total amount of money required to create that product. Here, you may be looking at art works done on the commonly-used medium known as canvass. That turns out to be the very highest quality canvass (which, quite naturally, is also the costliest artistic canvass). If the works are paintings, the paint used is that of the highest quality which, again quite naturally, is also the costliest. Of course, all of this makes sense only if the brushes and auxiliary tools are top quality products as well, thus being high-priced as well. If you consider all of these, you realize that during materialization, a lot of money was needed. Thus, the final price must be at least a couple of bucks above the price of all tools and materials used during the artistic project.

The second principle and fact resulting in abstract art products being high-priced is that 'time is money'. Manual work always requires the most of patience, time, dedication and energy. It is a very hard process to complete. Continuing further artistic works with the same amount of energy and dedication is a challenge. To get enough motivation, artists need to put the prices high.

The final reason to justify these high prices of abstract art products is how skillful the artist has to be in order to produce that artistic work. You may think that creating abstract products to reach the commercial market is relatively easy, but only a couple of skillful artists have reached that level. Having put so much of their skill in the production of the items in question, the artists are naturally inclined to sell them at reasonably high prices.
