Photography Tips From A New England Wedding Photographer

By Arthur Baker

For a photographer who is new in the profession, you obviously want to be one of the greats in this field. Even for those already doing it, they still have a lot to learn as photography is not just about posing and shooting. If you want to become a professional New England wedding photographer, expect a few faults here and there, but with the following tips, you can be sure that things will run a bit smoothly.

There is no way that one can shoot alone during a wedding. You should either be part of a team or hire a team to help you. Remember you need to capture the moment from when the groom and bride start preparing for the wedding and mind you they will be in different places. In that case, you need a team of up to three photographers, and you assign each where and what he should aim to capture. It will also be a lot easier for you if you have an extra hand to help you with the lighting and carrying your tools.

Always get to know earlier how the program will run. This makes you and your team organize yourselves better especially if there are moments in the program that you need to capture. As the couple for a copy of their program and if there is any symbolism or rituals included, get to know what they entail and make sure you capture those moments.

Before leaving for the job that morning, just confirm if you have the right gear. Many are times when photographers rush back to their studios or house because they forgot maybe their back up batteries. In this case, make sure you carry all your equipment and carry extra ones so that if one fails, you just pick your extras.

As a good photo shooter, you should not only stick to the usual that is, bride, groom, the cake, the rings; that is a bit boring. Make it interesting and capture the behind the scenes moments like when a person cries, laughs or those funny dance moves. This is where a team comes in handy because you will be able to capture all the fun and memorable moments.

When it comes to controlling group photos, you can easily get irritated as those who are supposed to be in the caption are not cooperating. Try and show them a little bit of professional authority. You need to be confident if you want them to take you seriously. However, you have to be respectful as you do this.

As much as you would want to be in control, do not overly control your subjects. Photos are more appealing if those captured were acting naturally. Unless when you need to take particular poses especially for group photos, let everything else be captured spontaneously. When you try to direct every photo you take, they will look weird and fake.

The final secret about being a pro in this field is noting your mistake and accepting that you did it. If the mistake kind of effects the result or the couples expectancy, be humble enough to accept and apologize. Learning from each event is the way to move forward. Even the all-time gurus were once amateurs who never made past failure lawn chairs to sit on.
