Tips On How To Apply Stage Makeup Kits For Schools

By Charles Richardson

Whether you are participating in a dance or a musical, it is critical that you put on stage makeup. Stage makeup kits for schools affect the public perception of your stage performance. When done well, your performance will be lively but if it is poorly done, you will appear as if you are ill.

Before applying makeup, make sure that your skin is clean. You should add a toner that will make your skin complexion even. At this point you should make sure that the toner you are using is alcohol free. This is because stage makeup usually dries the skin especially when exposed to the stage lights.

After embarking on the toner, put on the foundation. It should be of a slightly darker color than your skin tone. Start by applying it at your forehead as you approach your hairline before applying it to your entire face. In case you are putting on an attire that will leave out your neck and ears, to avoid the mask effect, ensure you also apply the foundation to these areas too.

After successfully applying the foundation, you should then embark on the blush or rouge. One thing that performers should pay attention to is to smile while working on the blush. For a girl, a rosy blush will complement their skin tone well. But if it is a lad choose a color that is a bit paler.

You should then do accent to your eyes. Ensure you apply the eye shadow first. Use a lighter shade to highlight the brow bone then a slightly darker one for the eyelids. You should use colors that will well blend at the point at which they meet. You can opt for a dramatic look. This can be achieved by choosing a dark shade to line the top of the eyelids.

Lip lining should then ensue. The color of the lip liner should blend in with that of the lipstick. This is vital because the lip liner will hold the lipstick without it bleeding into your face when you sweat. Then apply the lip color. The color of the lipstick should match your costume. Therefore, you must make it a point to consult your costumer on what color of attire you will wear on stage.

To set the makeup, apply a translucent powder on your face. This can be easily done by dipping a brush in your powder. You should ensure that you apply just the right amount. If the dipped brush has excess powder, tap it on a paper towel to remove the extra powder. By using powder, you will ensure that your make will not get ruined when you sweat during the performance.

After you get done with your make up, you should take a look at yourself. From your reflection in the mirror, your makeup should appear slightly exaggerated because as you perform, the stage lights will be able to lighten up the dark shade. You should know that each individual in the audience will be viewing from different perspective and therefore you have to ensure that your make up communicates your expressions on stage.
