Things That Conservative Judaism Gay Perspectives Are Saying

Homosexuality is one issue that is faced by lots of persons nowadays. Discrimination is suffered by lots of gays and lesbians from the societies they live in, and even their families. Their sexual orientations are not typically disclosed to others as they have fears of what could be said or done to them by others.

Numerous religions are already providing their stances about homosexuality. Those conservative Judaism gay perspectives are saying several things as to this topic. The succeeding declarations are only some of those which they are believing in.

There are those people who have traditional views of the issues that many individuals face today, such as homosexuality. As such, they consider this issue as an abomination. They generally do not like gay persons. They also do not want their own sons to be homosexuals. In case their sons turn out to be just like them, they usually disown them.

However, there are also those individuals who would say that people should understand these individuals more as they struggle to find their true identities. They would say that these persons deserve respect. Individuals need respect so that they can live in peaceful communities. Acceptance is also a value that members should practice.

The Torah is the Jewish counterpart of the Bible of Christians. The Torah is containing all things which people should be doing in their own lifetimes. The Torah is prohibiting the acts which are associated with homosexuality. It is not devaluing those homosexuals, however. It is maintaining the fact that all gays are humans, as well, who have feelings and also emotions. It is certainly not their fault if they find people belonging to the similar gender attractive.

Gays are harassed and embarrassed in public by some people. Rude jokes and comments are made by them which could leave the homosexuals feeling hurt. Suicide has been attempted by several queers so that these hurtful situations can be avoided. With these, harassment on these persons is prohibited by the Torah as the values which is taught by Judaism to its followers are opposed by harassment.

Some individuals believed that homosexuality is one type of disease that could be cured by doctors such as psychiatrists and psychologists. Therapies are usually conducted to gays by lots of practitioners hoping that these persons could be turned into someone they must be. However, the right of these homosexuals for therapies considered as dangerous and useless to be rejected is affirmed by Judaism.

There are some queers who marry those of the opposite sex which they think will change their orientation. However, Jewish views do not encourage those with homosexual orientation to marry persons of the opposite gender. If they do this, they could expect several negative situations such as ruined lives, dishonesty, shame, unrequited love, and even tragedy.

The views of Jewish rabbis are concluding that all the Jews are made equal, what their orientation, wealth, or genders are. They are also advising queers of becoming true to themselves. They are also reminding them, however, of following the Torah and abstaining from homosexual activities as much as possible.
