What To Know About Australian Labradoodle Puppies

By Marissa Velazquez

Australian Labradoodle puppies are generated from a cross between either a standard Toy Poodle and a Labrador, or a Miniature and a Labrador. The very first puppies of this species were first bred in Victoria, Australia by Conron Wally. Conron was a key dog breeder at the time who always desired to generate a breed that would be trainable, gentle, with a low-shedding skin. The breeder desired these qualities since they would serve individuals with allergies against fur and dander.

All the attributes or properties he desired were available in Labradors and Poodles. The Labrador is very trainable and gentle whereas poodles have low-shedding coats. The first breeding research was carried out in 1955 and resulted into the name Labradoodles. However the name stayed unpopular till the year 1988 when the dogs began gaining application as allergen-free guide pets.

The crossbreeding experiment gave rise to a litter of puppies among them being Sultan. Sultan had all the qualities Conron was looking for. He was intelligent with a personality that allowed him to serve as an effective guide dog. Sultan was posted to work in Hawaii as a guide dog and was highly successful at the job. After such a great success, other breeders saw the merits of the experiment Conron had performed and they started breeding Poodles and Labradors.

Various puppies from a litter may possess different qualities. Some could be aggressive and could show this by fighting their siblings whilst others might prefer isolation and always keep away from people. When selecting a puppy, one needs to avoid the loner and aggressive types because the qualities may strengthen as they develop. An average puppy is always jovial allowing people to hold it. Normally it runs to people and finds it easy to bond with them. The temperaments will however sometimes depend on such factors such as socialization, coaching and training, and heredity. The temperaments of the parents have a great impact on the behavior of the puppies that arise. Sometimes it is a good habit to visit the parents and relatives of the puppy one wants to buy because how they behave may tell something about it.
