How To Create Landscape Abstract Paintings

By Brenda Davis

In some cases, artists paint from a perspective of reality. As such, most paint straightforward replicas when using a model. While this is the case, there are also those whom create Landscape Abstract Paintings. Most often, the latter is done by adding shapes, colors and under-painting to create a piece which leaves a great deal of interpretation to the viewer.

In most cases, the content in this genre comes from either an idea or through the use of a model such as an individual, object or landscape. In creating this type of painting, most painters use acrylic, color mixing and oil. While this is the case, there are also a number of modern mixed-media artists whom also use the term to define various pieces.

Most modern painters and artists find inspiration in everyday life. Whether drawing from life experience, fiction, non-fiction, poetry or prose, the outcome is often the same. For, the outcome is often a piece which leaves viewers questioning the inspiration and meaning behind the art.

One of the best painting classes in this genre is offered by Brian Ryder through YouTube. For, while some individuals can simply pick up a brush and start painting, others whom need direction. As such, the classes now offered by Mr. Ryder have been quite popular. For, the classes teach individuals how to create art using the best techniques.

In Ryder's Beyond Realism and other classes, students often learn about color, composition, methods, moods and attitudes. In class, the teacher paints along side the students so that it is possible to see how a field of poppies later actually pops with abstract color and features. After which, students are often able to repeat the process using various models and tools.

In most cases, teachers will provide various methods of brush work when working with students. In addition, students are often taught how to use colors which are complementary to the shapes and sizes used in a piece. Whereas, underpainting and cross-strokes can often add an additional dimension to any piece of work. When desiring to take a more professional educational approach, there are several art based classes offered on websites such as edX and Coursera.

While this is the case, the Artists Network website also provides information on classes and a full length how-to video. In addition, students can view a number of reviews and testimonials in relation to network offerings. The site also includes examples to help individuals decide whether to create art with a wet-on-dry or wet-on-wet technique. After which, many go on to paint a number of original abstract paintings.

When it comes to the actual painting process, individuals can learn how to create bold variations in shapes and colors. One of the best examples of this type painting is that of a landscape of poppies used in the class. After which, most students go on to create a number of individual abstract paintings, many of which end up in art galleries and contemporary art museums.
