Basic Details Regarding Arnold Prank Calls And Similar Acts

By Catherine Wallace

Practical jokes or commonly known as pranks are mischievous tricks played on someone, usually to let the victim experience discomfort, confusion, perplexity or embarrassment. These differ from hoaxes or confidence tricks because victims are told about the joke after rather than tricking them to hand over valuables like money. They are normally lighthearted and have no lasting impact.

Their aim is to make the target feel foolish or humbled and not humiliated or victimized by using affectionate humorous gestures to encourage laughter. Examples of these are Arnold prank calls that the caller uses sound clips from the movies of the actor to fool the other person into thinking the celebrity is calling them. They use digital applications for this where they just choose a recorded sentence to talk like them.

These were originally done by imitating voices of famous people while having these telephone calls that is easier since callers remain anonymous. Doing this became harder though because newer technology has been developed that lets you identify who is calling. These are caller IDs which could let individuals see names of the person calling them.

Pranksters could also use payphones since their numbers will not display on the device of the receiver but most people do not answer calls from blocked caller IDs. These have become less common now since payphones are being phased out slowly and fewer ones are left. Their goal of remaining anonymous is difficult to do with these.

Another alternative is becoming popular increasingly that is using services in VoIP which telephone numbers are simply nonexistent. Tracing these calls is very difficult because these are passing through various routers and servers operate by several entities from different countries. Although law enforcement agencies may trace them but their time, resources and effort is too great in tracing an ordinary prank.

With more people on the internet, prank calls have increased their popularity again with some radio stations dedicating their content on this. Various submissions coming from the community are broadcast and featured on their channel by them. There are software apps which allows private sharing of pranks with fellow users in real time.

Sharing personally made pranks calls is possible through the internet and this allows them to develop a community. They could share these things live or those they previously recorded and some systems lets listeners chat while pranksters are calling their victims. This lets them discuss and give the caller suggestions on what they say.

Although be careful when you plan on doing this yourself because there are laws against abusing this joke and is considered a criminal act. You cannot call emergency services and pretend someone needs immediate help or just talk random things to them. Calling with the intent to harass, threaten, abuse or annoy someone is also a crime.

Another prank commonly done and considered a criminal act is when law enforcement agencies are contacted to report threats like explosives. This can cause inconvenience due to the area being searched or possibility of cancellation for the event there. They will trace your call and arrest you.
