Road To Being Part Of A Roman Catholic Priest Calendar

By Steven Parker

Many people believe that serving God is a natural calling for select individuals only. There are also many who think that doing so gives them a sense of growth especially spiritually because it allows them to help other people on a different level. However, there are also many things that one needs to consider before arriving at the decision of wanting to be one.

There are many requirements that are needed to become a Catholic priest and one of them, of course is to be Catholic. Other things such as educational and spiritual factors are also to be evaluated and considered. Below are some of the career requirements that one needs to observe and who knows, you might be one of those who will be featured in a Roman Catholic priest calendar in the future.

One of the few things that is required is for you to obtain a bachelors or college degree. One has to go to school and take any program or course that can be related to religious studies easily like communications, history, philosophy, or religions among others. You can choose to go to a university or a seminary where they also formally educate men who would like to be priests.

It is also important you acquaint yourself with religious leaders or people with position in the church for guidance and enlightenment in the path that you are considering taking. They might as well provide spiritual advice that will be of help to you. Another important thing is they can also aid you in joining programs that will open your eyes to the life of priesthood.

More so, one must not only be actively participating in masses but also in different religious activities that are conducted by the church and its leaders. This will aid in your understanding of the path which you have chosen to take. Likewise, it will also expand your know how of things on the religious life.

After going to college, one can proceed to being a candidate. Make this time a time to contemplate on your decisions of wanting to become a priest. Use it to think about the things you will have to undergo as well as sacrifice to follow the life of serving the church and its Deity.

A follow up to having a bachelors degree is attending graduate work or seminary. Attending college may reduce your seminary years. Such seminaries will offer programs that are of graduate level and will make you work on more specific subjects like liturgy, pastoral ethics, as well as preaching, among many others.

At the end of your seminary life, you, together with your fellow graduates, will then be called for ordination. This may be through a holy mass or any other ceremony arranged by the church which will grant you Holy Orders. Most last six months and during those times, you will receive an assignment to begin your religious lifestyle.

Ultimately, surviving all of these will welcome you to the life of priesthood. Like other careers, there are multiple forms of priesthood you will learn about in seminary. Many people, however, have quit halfway through the whole process especially after profound reflection.
