How To Choose Meaningful Abstract Paintings For Your Home

By Karen Russell

There are so many things involved with the creation of art. The peculiar thing about the best artworks is how the best creations and artists come from certain places. At least this is true to the most notable ones. In the United States, New York and Los Angeles seem to produce the ones that gets noticed the most by many important curators.

There have been many movements throughout history when it comes to the any form of the visual representation of life. LA abstract paintings, for example, have produced many works that can range from pop art references to those with more elaborate meanings. The question remains is whether or not it is good and what makes art a masterpiece, exactly.

What makes an abstract piece stand out from among others is composition. This is true to all types of art, but can be quite difficult to determine in this case, technically speaking. Not only does its aesthetic rely on color choice but also on so many unsuspected shapes and concepts.

Pablo Picasso was a very famous painter because of the political nature of his abstractions. While it had its own visual identity, it also had a political stand point. The most famous one would be the Guernica. This one was about the bombing that happened during the Spanish Civil War. The subject would be the victims of war during these times.

One of the best abstract artist that humankind has produced is Pablo Picasso with his shapes and composition genius. Sure these are just mere shapes that those with the audacity claims that can be done by elementary students. That can be one of the most insulting things you can say about art, honestly. A famous painting from the man is called Guernica.

More contemporary artists are meant to do really good in galleries found in Los Angeles. This is because art movements and new or evolved perspectives are still being valued. Not that it is not valued anywhere else either. The crowd and culture is just so much diverse. Look for the weird and the crazy instead of the plain and technical.

Sadly, so many paintings out there get sold for millions and they are just a work of laziness. It is absurd to look at that some pieces that get displayed in galleries are just made for the shock factor. These types tend to be questionable pieces. For those art enthusiasts and those struggling to make their way up such a competitive field, it can be quite unfair.

This is what separates the artist from the artisan. Know that there is a significant difference to both and it could be a thin one that. What an artist essentially makes is a form of expression, while an artisan is someone who is driven by the craft, and not necessarily expression. While both may be driven by passion, the results are necessarily different.

Let us face it, it makes you question if there really is still some cultural significance to what is being displayed. This is not to say that all abstracts are random and just drips of paint and a composition of shapes. You can check out a Pollock piece and realize that the intricacies of its fractals and patterns create a mathematical pattern. Then again looking at art technically is a matter of study. It takes experience and genuine interest to actually see what is good and what is pretentious.
