Telling stories is one of the most popular and effective means of entertainment and information dissemination in the past. Its because of those stories that modern generation can take a glimpse of what life was like before the digital age. This does not mean though that all you hear from your grandparents have factual basis. Some of them are myths flowered by the practice and popular culture of their time.

If you read materials from various sources, you will bump into a huge list of legends dating as far as the history of men can recall. Among those topics that have been a subject of many interpretations are the scary voodoo dolls. They are characterized by horrific faces, though modern ones depict more pleasing features. Some see them as a bad omen while others find some good things hidden on these grotesque items. Healing of illnesses happen. There is also that thing about these goods as cure for sickness. Of course, there aren't any solid proof for this, which is exactly why its dismissed as mere legend. The story goes like anyone who show trust in the healing powers of the doll will undoubtedly be driven away from the health issue that they are experiencing.

Soul transfer. The idea of reincarnation is nothing new. Even few current religion believe that people never die but are reborn to another body, may it be to another human being or an animal. There are entities however, who think that its possible to channel the soul so that its guided into residing inside a doll.

Accessory for murder. The scariest thing of all the things we have on this list is the thought that this can be used to murder someone or a group. As outrageous as the idea could be, it has been portrayed in films and all other modern media. Its participation in the killing is said to be indirect, with a doll set to represent a living person. What you do to the object, happen to that individual.

Independent, supernatural life. Its creepy to think about dolls being used for witchcraft and all. But its even creepier if they are thought to have a life of their own, something which you are not in direct control of. According to some legends, they are entities who are capable of staying alive at night.

It may be fun to hear some of the popular myths among common objects like voodoo items. Yet no matter how well crafted things are, their just works of mind. Its important that you guard your thoughts and perceptions well. Otherwise, you might end up mixing facts with mere stories.
