Scan Through Women And Music Art

By Rosella Campbell

Women have been central in the development of arts in general and music in particular. Their participation has grown over the years with different roles in each era. The linkage between women and music art is at performance, production as well as inspiration. They have been named on numerous occasions among the best composers and singers in their generation.

Female participation in performing arts places them as a minority in all geographical areas. The support and motivation from institutions and individuals has been vital in developing their talents. This has enabled female artists to overcome eminent challenges as they seek to exploit their talents and make a living out of singing.

Social dialogue has been shaped by arts done or influenced by women for centuries. They have entertained generations and societies with a notable mastery of certain contexts and themes better than their male counterparts. Their performances in front of crowds, royalties and guests dates back to centuries. They present unique perspectives, sounds and style that are endearing to crowds. This form of presentation can only be done by female voices.

Female artists compose and sing about such themes as social justice, motivation and love. This clearly demarcates their music with their handling of relationships being distinct. The dominant themes are feminine. Male artists have also written a lot about women with inspiration coming from relatives, parents, lovers and daughters. This is still credited as part of their influence.

The challenge for pundits is how to consider a female singer as excellent without the affirmative approach that she is a woman. This challenge has seen many of them face unfair comparisons and been considered as better because they are women. This is likely to conceal the real talent and motivation.

There are organizations that seek to promote the place of a woman in musical performance. They offer recording opportunities and organize events to showcase upcoming talents. This is crucial in helping many of them in different parts of the world to get the much needed exposure that would see them make a break through.

Participation of female singers in charity events using their skills is worth noting. They help to raise funds that assist campaigns in flooded areas, famine stricken communities and others rearing under natural calamities. Through their talents, they become ambassadors of good will.

Women composers have provided excellent pieces of classical music for concerts and other performance occasions. Performing theaters have witnessed incredible female representation and influence. Their approach, style and musical taste is unique. Their collaborations have produced incredible melodies and helped to increase acceptance.

The regard for female composers is slightly lower compared to that of their male counterparts. The gender gap or disparity runs across all fields of art. The era of performance varies with an apparent higher threshold for women. Though this has been a discouragement, it has not stopped women from outsmarting their male counterparts in other areas.

Notable female composers include Clara Schumann, Amy Marcy, Cecile Chaminade and Hildegard of Bingen. They represent different eras and communities, but their contribution cannot be overlooked. Their influence is notable in the musical scene with dynamic themes and a feminine appeal in their style of performance.
